Part 1 System description:

Bitumen Anticorrosion Tape 600 joint wrap tape series is Cold applied tape coating system for anti corrosion of field joints, fittings, and specifically pipeing. The adhesive is a key in ground performance characteristic coupled with the low and high density polyethylene backing.

The Bitumen Anticorrosion Tape 600shall be applied by hand or with a wrapping machine.

Part 2 joint wrap tape Structure:

Backing: stabilized polyethylene
Adhesive: butyl rubber compound and adhesive synthetic resins
Interleaf: Anti Adhesive Siliconised film

Application:

Provides a permanent bond to the primed steel pipes surface and provides protection against chemical electrolytic corrosion for underground pipelines.

Because of flexibilities of hand apply tapes or joint wrap and inner wrap tapes, it is suitable for irregular pipe , flanges, elbows, and etc-. Long term, corrosion protection

Anticorrosion tape type

4.1 Tape Inner Wrap

· Anticorrosion inner wrap tape shall be two ply plastic tape consisting of stabilized polyethylene (PE) base of outer layer (backing) with a layer of butyl rubber (adhesive) applied on one side.

· The thickness of plastic base shall not be less than 13mils. Thickness of butyl rubber shall not be less than 12 mils. The total thickness of the tape shall not be less than 25 mils.

· The Anticorrosion inner wrap tape must be compatible with the properties of the primer and the properties of outer wrap tape.

· PE backing colour shall be black.

4.2. Tape outer Wrap

· The anticorrosion outer wrap tape shall be two ply plastic tape consisting of stabilized polyethylene (PE) base of outer layer (backing) with a layer of butyl rubber (adhesive) applied on one side.

· The thickness of plastic base shall not be less than 12mils. Thickness of butyl rubber shall not be less than 13 mils. The total thickness of the tape shall not be less than 25 mils.

· The outer wrap tape must be compatible with the properties of the primer and the properties of outer wrap tape

· PE backing colour shall be white.

Tape Testing

All tape and primer shall be tested in accordance to ASTM standard(s) latest edition and with the appropriate testing reference number for its superseded number. No specification and testing procedure not referenced in this specification shall be considered authorization to change or to revise the tolerance, material testing or physical and technical properties noted in this specification.
